Hi

We have grown 5 teak treas in the small space back of our home. The home is not in the forest. It is in the village.

We want to cut it and use it for our own home construction and furniture. What kind of permission we need to take from the Government before cutting our teak trees?

Some say, we need to approach the VAO, some say we need to approach the Revenue Department.

Are there any fees we need to pay them?

Please guide.

Thanks.

You check your State Government Forest Department office nearby regarding latest rules concerning restrictions on cutting trees of specific varieties including teak. It is not VOA, Revenue Department which is the guardian of trees-it is the Forest department, and they may ask the VOA to give a report if necessary regarding your property and tree wealth in it to assess.
If you have obtained the land from Government/Forest Department and if any reservation about trees in it are made at the time of issuing your ownership document (Patta, RTC etc), then that reservation of trees (meaning it will be taken away by Government at timber value) will be applicable. So, check with the nearest/jurisdictional Forest Office/ACF or DFO.
