Baba Ramdev is the largest domestic buyer of Red Sandalwood in India . There are three qualities of red sandalwood: the price of A Grade is Rs 1.75 crore / MT, B Grade fetches Rs 1.5 crore / MT and the price of Grade C is Rs 29 lakh/ MT .
Govt of Andhra Pradesh auctioned Red Sanders wood in 2014 through MSTC
A grade fetched a price Rs 1.95 crore / MT , price for B grade ranged from Rs 155.35 lakh/ MT to Rs 48.45 lakh per MT for grade C, the price ranged of Rs 40.72 lakh and Rs 15.15 lakh/ MT
Heart wood starts to form after 5 to 6 years after planting with good maintenance and after 15 years and above the expected yield from one tree is nearly 10 to 25 kg now .
The wood commands a good price, especially in the markets of China and Japan.
