We want to establish one tissue culture lab in eastern part of Nepal near Darjeeling specially based on large cardmom,timber,herbs,exotic flower plants. We are looking for joint venture in this area. We have one acre land on mid hill. We are tea producers at said place.
In India , Agricultural Biotechnology products are regulated by the ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change jointly with the Department of Biotechnology , Ministry of Science and Technology and State Governments.
Biotech is not cheap, and it is also high-risk – public funders need to be bold and support early-stage R&D for decades often not knowing where it will lead.
Till date , Biotechnology that has been used to develop improved and adapted crops with high yields , resistance to various stresses ( insect , fungi , high temperature and drought and improved nutritional values .
Till date there are some 87 Tissue Culture labs in India recognised by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India under the “National Certification System for Tissue Culture Raised Plants (NCS-TCP)”. Mostly engaged into production of planting materials of of Banana , Pineapple , Strawberry , Sugarcane , Potato and some Medicinal plants and Vegetables .
But another agro sector mostly untouched in India is - agro processing and reducing post harvest loss !
Indian farmers face whooping Rs 93,000 cr post-harvest loss every year .
