Hello,

I am a working professional and want to take up agriculture business very shortly.

I have a total of 7 acres of land near Mysore out of which 3 acres is uncultivated land with moderate water supply. The remaining 4 acres have been planted with 300 coconut trees.

I have planned to invest Rs.8-10 lakhs and want to start any labour non dependent agricultural business with this 3 acres.

Also I would like to know about the annual yield of a single coconut tree in terms of no. of coconut per year if properly taken care.

Regards,
Prabhu

Hi Parag,

Have you given a thought to Hydroponics? This an art and a science of growing plants in a controlled environment and without soil. This technology introduces the concept "Resource Efficiency" which is never imagined in Indian agriculture.

If you are looking at high yield, top most quality, highly efficient system of Agriculture then Hydroponics is the way to go. That is of course you are doing it as a business and not as a hobby.

It requires capital investments such as green house etc but your sales are 10 times higher which makes it viable business scenario.

Take a look at my strawberry Cultivation project YouTube - straw berrry in poly house 7/12

this will give you a glimpse.

Best Regards

Dear Sir,
The average yield of a Coconut Palm aged more than 15 years varies between 100 to 200 in and around Mysore. However, it depends upon many other factors like proper package of practice, weather conditions, soil conditions, irrigation, etc.
Any agricultural activity is labour intensive. I do not know any vocation which does not require labour help.
