Hello,

I have 35 acres in vilathikulam district. Soil is very good but i dont have electricity and i cant afford a solar power motor for now. Please suggest any crops/plants which can grow tihout water. As of now most of the peoples surrounding this area do cultivation only during the rain season september - January. Rest of the year 90% of them are idle. Very few farmers who have land near the road side got eb poles and are using motor and cultivating throughout the year.

Hello Sir
U may plant melia dubia trees in ur land so that u may get long term benefits, Initially it need very little care for 2 years than u can just leave it. it will grow,
In medicinal plants u cultivate aloevera which also does not need water.
Or u can do cactus nursery which too do not need much water.

Hi haichells,

As a first step, you can grow "Savukku" temporarily for few years(4 years). This may require a little bit of water during the initial months.
Second step, you need to dig trenches around the entire farmland to ensure water is percolated in the land.
Third step, you need to dump as much as possible the wastes from the crops into your field and spread them and it can include the cow dung waste etc.
Fourth step, you need to diversify your from one single crop like Savukku to many crops.

You can question the validity of the method I have provided above.
Just think of the forest land, does anybody provide water to them? The rainwater is stored in the soil moisture and the excess runoff water is coming to us as rivers etc.
