Starting a Dairy Farm

Hi,

I am starting a Dairy Farm in Nagalapuram, A.P. Though I have some training in this field but not enough practicals.
Kindly help me with the following:-
1. weather being hot in this area, H.F. be maintained ?
2. Usage of Fogger or mist fans will do or something else needs to be done?

In hot humid climates it is better not to have walls.
Walls may lead to inadequate ventilation,favouring bacteria and mould growth which makes the stable unhygienic.
To protect the interior from sunshine (or heavy rain), curtains made from straw, textile or other suitable material can be used.
Showering the cows/buffaloes with cool water for three minutes twice a day has proven to be anefficient way for them to get rid of excess heat.
In tied up systems it is advisable to provide partitions between buffalo.

You can opt Mini Dairy Scheme of 05 animals under RKVY scheme through Animal Husbandry department of ANDHRA PRADESH.
Approach your Mandal Doctor or JD/AD of your District.
you can also try Murrah Buffaloes for long term benefit.

Can you please further clear my doubts about H.F. cross breed. Can it be maintained in this temperature?

where can I get good H.F.cross breeds?
 

Hi Verma,

HF croccbreed can be kept in those climate.
Good animals are available in Punjab. I would suggest you go for 50% pure animals and then slowly increase the purity of animals as this would ease your management for the same.
