Hi

You can use HF in Vishakaptnam area. They yield high.

Sheep can be reared as free range (where there is no shortage of land) or under housing inside a shed. It is a very important component in dry land farming system. With very low investments can be made in to a profitable venture for small, marginal farmers and landless labourers.

Exotic breeds of sheep
Merino – Wool purpose
Ram Boullet – Wool and meat
Cheviot – Meat
South Down - Meat

For the local breeds contact the nearest animal husbandry department.

Hi i'm from visakhapatnam itself...i have almost completed my construction work for my dairy farm.I suggest u to go with jersey as HF cant survive in visakhapatnam area as it has high humidity.u can visit farms around visakhapatnam and think about the bread and please go to local govt vet and discuss with him he will tell u abt the bread selection which can survive in our area (if he is a senior doctor).

And about sheep farm i heard that a disease called F&M will spread easily to cows if we bread both together.

Regards,
sandeep

Stall fed system for Sheep is difficult and needs a lot care, since they can put on excessive fat and eventually it would be difficult task to manage. However goat has proved sucessful in stall fed conditions and are more disease resistant than sheep, more over if you have a farm it is vital that you ensure you vacinate your goat and cows for F&M disease.

As far as the cows its best advisable to check the neighbours dairy farms and farmers with more than 10 cows on check on the breed and the yeild, as far as my knowledge HF cannot produce high yeild in very hot and humid conditions. But if you are looking for cows which yeild about 10-12 ltrs per day then you can better you go for Jersey cross indian breeds or pure indian breeds such as red sindhi, Saihwal, Tharpakar and so on.

We provide commerical goat farm consultancy in an intergrated system.

you can send me a private msg for details.

Thanks,
Antony
