Mango planting

With a spacing of 30 feet between plant to plant and row to row 50 plants can be planted per acre.

In between any additional crop can be grown if so for which are they and for how much year?
Ground nut, Ragi, Horse gram, black gam/ vegetables/medicinal herbs can be cultivated up to 10 years after planting.

How much years it will take give yielding?

From 3rd year on wards it will give yield.

How much mango can be expected in an year for 1 acre?

From 5 th year onwards we can expect considerable yield. If you get average 50 kg per tree, 2500kg (2.5 ton is expected). Often mango yield is irregular, if drip irrigation, is provided, other care is taken properly, there is scope for more yield, The yield will increase as the tree becomes old.

Grafted saplings of varieties like banganapalli, zuari, Malgoa, alphonsa, Thothapuri etc. will fetch more price in the market. If fruit is exported there is scope for more revenue.

Mango Cultivation

There is new trend in mango plantations - ultra high density method. Here the spacing can be between 2M x 2M - 3M x 3M. Check TNAU website for more details. This methodology is still in its infancy but worth trying.
