Needed advice for Dairy Feed

Hello Everyone,

We have started with a small Dairy with 5 cows near Hosur in the available 3 arces of farmland with good water facility. Our cows are HF / Jersy and we are int phase of expansion to 20 Cows very soon. We require advice from our farmer friends on the following :

1. Green Feed - Can some one guide us on the type of green feed to grown which will keep the cow healthy and produce more milk.

2. Dry feed - We use Ragi hay to feed the cows presently - Can we continue.

3. Other Feed - We use Ground nut cake and other feeds available at market to improve production - This is too costly and takes away most of the money from profits. Do we have an alternative.

Kindly advice further imporvements.

Hi santhosh,

Can you pls give me the address or contact number, from where to buy these cows.. i am also going to start the farm with in couple of months so i need this can you help me in this.. this is my personal id if possible mail me the details...

Dairy animal feeding

1.The Green grasses like MAIZE fooder,Hybrid Napier ,PARA can be fed at the rate of 6% of body weight of cows
2.The Dry fodders like Ragi/Paddy Straw Can be fed at the rate of 2.5% of Body weight. You can enrich dry fodder by diisolving 2 Kg urea, 100 ml Brolayton and 500 Gm enzymes in 20 Litres of water and spray on 100 Kg ragi/paddy straw and it can be fed immdiately to cows

3. You can prepare your own feed

Maize 30.00
wheatbran 10.00
Ricepolish 10.00
Gram HUSK 10.00
Soyabean meal 10.00
Cottonseed 10.00
Sunflower cake 10.00
Mineral mixture 3.00
salt 1.00
urea 2.00
Jaggery 5.00

You can feed 1-2 kg maintainance and 1 kg for every 2.5 litre of milk produced

Cattle feed 6 Kg
Green fooder 25 Kg
Dry fodder 8 Kg
Cooking soda 20 g
