Greetings to Everyone!!
I am new to the forum, so please bear with me if any of my question sounds stupid.
I plan to start a Goat farm shortly and needs some of your valuable experiences on the below mentioned points.
1. Is it mandatory to have your own land, or can you lease/rent out land to start with.
2. How good is a semi fertile (rocky land) for producing fodder.
3. Can Hydroponics feed replace substantial green feed. Can it be fed in conjunction with green feed.
4. What breed of goat is good for Maharashtra (in and around Pune).
5. Can multiple breeds be reared together, like Osmanabadi/Sirohi/Sojat etc.
6. Which one of the above breed is a intensive stall feed breed.
7. Are Osmanabadi breeds good intensive stall feed breed, if not please share its rearing methodology.
8. We want to start small, may be 10-15 and then adding up 10 every 1.5 to 2 months. Is this a good approach?
9. Is there any salaried person who is into Goat farming already. If yes please suggest how you manage your office and farm simultaneously.
10. How much does it cost to buy fodder for say 50 goats? Also consider that some amount of fodder will be grown using hydroponics.
11. Where should you buy your breeding goats from?
12. If anyone can share a sample project report from ones own experience, I would be grateful.
