Hi,

we want to adapt Subhash Palekar's Zero Budget Farming for our Banana farm. We were advised to grow turmeric and ginger as intercrops for better result.

Can anyone second this and why? Does any one grow this kind of intercrop in South India, especially in Northern part of Karnataka?

Thanks

Vinayak

Hi
I have attended a seven days seminar of Mr.Palekar in Karnataka (Sangam). Also visited few forms they are following his techniq.
We visited a banana growing farmer who got 20 lacs from his 1.5 acrs banana field.

The reason for planting ginger, onion like plants are to get nitrogen to the main crop, Presentation of Humas in the soil is called fertile soil, Humas is nothing but the mixture of Carbon and Nitrgen. Availability of carbon is high in all fields, we have to provide nitrogen fixing plant to get humas.
