hii,

mangoes propagated by grafting or other vegetative methods take 3 - 4 years to bear while trees coming from seedlings take a longer period. The fist phase of growth is known as Vegetative Phase and after trees start bearing fruits trees enter the Reproductive Phase.
# Red loamy soils are quite ideal. # Mango has very deep and strong root system thus soils for mango should be quite deep for easy penetration and spread of the root system.
# Soils with a depth of 1.2 m or more are ideal for mango crop. More the depth of soil, better is the suitability. It requires good rainfall during its growing season i.e. June to October and rainless, dry weather from November onwards.
THe growing belts in Up are saharanpur, bulandshahar, lucknow, faizabad and varanasi.
The varieties of mango grown in Up are Bombay green, DAsheri, langra, safeda lucknow, chouasa and fasli.

Spacing followed is 10 x 10 m or 12 x 12 m.

Economic life of mango is 35 years.

You can obtain the seedlings from directorate of horticulture, lucknow.

The cost of cultivation comes to closely 1.2 lakh including cost of fencing and drip irrigation for 1 acre of land.

The returns generally vary . The total harvest is close to 5- 7 tonnes. Each tonne may sell for Rs.10000 to 12000.

Mango

Sagaun is very agressive, once established, and will suppress mango.Better to go for shade loving medicinal crops like Nepali satawari, sarpgandha or patchouli which have high economical returns and can be cultivated up to 8-10 yrs after mango plantaion.
Thanks
