Hi folks,

I am based in Goa, India and having a coconut/cashew plantation. Over the last few years now, this area has literally become a permanent resident of a troop of monkeys which is causing a lot of nuisance to me...They coconut production has come down by two-thirds partly due to these rampaging apes and also by the microscopic mites, the latter of which is brought under control.

Can you suggest some ideas how to ward of these monkeys other than shooting them down.

Try one more method:

Make Rice/ Wheat Flour bolls and put inside Red Chilli Powder and keep it in places where monkeys are there.

Dear Sri Dsnesh,

Monkey menace can be controlled by keeping a Langur ( black faced monkey) in your orchards . Other species of monkeys are scared on seeing the Langur . some farmers in costal Andra Pradesh will purchase one Langur monkey and keep in the gardens . Pl try this method as as catching them and leaving in distant places has no result.

Dear dinesh
I may give you some idea but should not be amused this was done and succeeded in ancient days by the hill area farmers and ancestors of kerala to ward off monkey menace from the coconut plants
simple MAKE SEVERAL SMALL PACKETS OF RED CHILLY POWDER FOLDED IN NEWS PAPER AND PLACE SEVERAL SUCH PACKS ON THE COCONUT TREE , PLACE MORE THAN ONE ON SINGLE TREE. WHEN THE MONEYS SEE THIS OUT OF CURIOSITY THEY WILL OPEN AND SMELL THE PACKS AND SOME TIME APPLY THE POWDER WITH THEIR ARMS TO THEIR FACE looooo what is going to happen and such experienced monkeys never ever visit or climb those coconut trees, and you will be out of their menace.
you may try this simple trick and if failed also you are not loosing or harming the creatures. THIS IS JUST A PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE MENACE MAKERS.
CONGRADS.

dear dinesh

ur problem can be solved in one way only. there is a variety of monkey called langur which in telugu we call kondamutchu. it is very aggressive and will drive away the menacing monkeys. this is a time tested method.
