Drainage problem in land nearby krishna river
Hi !
Always land near river or canal are suject to waterlogging due to seepage.
Here the land is located on the bank of river krishna
As long as water runs thro' river , water seepage will be there into nearby lands
During warm summer due to evaporation the subsurface water will come up to surface thro' capillary action of soil pores bringing along with it lot of salts from subsurface to the surface where after the water evaporates the salt is left behind on surface..further making drainage a serious problem..
Here only those crops which require more water like paddy, sugarcane , banana etc can be grown with some improvement on soil required to be attended upon..
1.Based on the slope gradient dug a trench for drainage in such a way that main trench with considerable depth will lead thro head to tail end of your land and small rills like trench / channel of suitable depth will collect excess water from other fields and bring it to main trench from where all collected excess water will be taken outside of field.
2.When waterlogging is a problem do not apply so much of chemical fertilizers since same will affect soil fertility in due course of time
3.Instead you prefer to apply organic manures like compost, farmyard manure, green and green leaf manure so as to improve soil condition.
4.Choose different type of crops based on the running position of water in the river canal..
