wild boar
Hi !
Really the problem with wild boar is a big menace. Initially 2 boar one male and other female come together into the field. After one year , after damaging almost all the crop from within the farm they leave the place out in army like group , in thousands. Fecundity is more with boar.
Once I came across a real incident in 1992. To arrest entry of wild boar into sugarcane field, the farmer installed a fencing of metal wire around his sugarcane field. Every day when he left the field he used to connect it directly to electric line in main board. Next day he would find 1 or 2 wild boar dead near the wire. He was happy that not only he successfully prevented wild boar from gaining entry into his sugarcane field but he could taste flesh of boar and share it with his fellow farmers.
One day I saw him in the court complex looking much disturbed . I asked him why standing in court complex, he replied " some body from neighborhood died of electric shock when crossed fencing during night". So this option ws dropped right then.
Even we can not kill wild boar due to strict forest law..
Only amenable option for farmer is to have cheap and best viable and live fencing of biological origin-wire fencing around the field and sow seeds of thoodhuvalai plants which grow bush like ..with heavy hook like thorns intertwined ..preventing any thing from gaining entry inside the field...
It prevents wild boar effectively and also the leaves are marketed as medicinal product as found used in medical treatment to cure many ailments in human being..
