1.Can we grow Sandal Trees in the area of Srinivaspur, Kolar Dist.

2.What is the cost of plantation/acre (How many trees)

3.What maintenace is required.

4.After how many years do we get the yield.

hi,
can u advise if we can grow sandalwood in kutch(gujarat)
land is around 80 acres with water suitable for cotton and castor plantations
would like to award turnkey project
any other plantation suitable for this type of climate can be suggested.

sandalwood cultivation

Hi everybody,

Now a days the sandalwood cultivation is take up among farmers and public.The redsoil is very opt for sandalwood cultivation.The black cooton, clay soil and paddy fields are not suitable for sadalwood cultivation.No fertilizer will requires for sandalwood except well ripped farmyard manure and no pesticide also requires.Water source will requires some extent.The majot taskforce in sandalwood cultivation will be security .Kindly provide bucca fencing by barbered iron with double layered fencing and keeping some watch dogs ,in addition 24 hours watch out will be required.One acre land will requires nearly 450 to 500 sandalwood saplings.Minimum one year old sandalwood seedling with green leaves with black stump is eligible for plantation.On completion of sixth months necessary entries may be made in the concerned village revenue authority i.e making entries in the patta & chitta and get the extract of the patta & chitta the same may be forwarded with a intimation letter to the concerned District forest officer.We are expecting the yield of the sandalwood on completion of 12 to 15 years .The yield pattern will be minimum 15 kilos and maximum 20 kilos per tree .But its not completion to harvest .we can extend for another five years the yield will be doubled.we can get loans from all nationalised bank against the land .The bank once gives loan the necesarry insurance will be done by the bank.In karnataka the govt gives subsidy for sandal cultivation .and also the mysore sandalwood soap co. also gives subsidy as Rs 100/-per tree upto harvest. we are having good quality and ROOT-I variety of sandalwood seedlings with us.we also having the redsanders seedlings & stumps for plantations.
