· INDIAN-Maringa dried leaves: International Market export price: USD 7.5 per KG
· Green leaves: There is a vast domestic market, which can be also processed and and packed for export
· Non – Organic Moringa - Dried leaves sold at Rs.130/- per KG
· Excellent overseas opportunity for export, esp. in Germany, Canada & USA
· Leaves are being extracted ,using latest technology
· There is a heavy requirement from abroad to separate calcium and iron from the leaves and it is used as independent commodity
· The Govt. Subsidy is available for cultivation- extraction unit-
· More benefits are available, if Farmers join to promote as cluster
· Soil and its nature is important for organic cultivation
· Treat seed before sowing
· Test the water and soil before decide on Moringa cultivation
· Direct sowing method is the BEST
· In 1 Acre, one can grow 1250 Moringa Saplings
· PKM variety -“Shrub Moringa” is good for cultivation of Moringa Leaves
· One can get good yield for a period of maximum four years-then, it is better to remove the plant
· One can harvest in a 5 times( minimum) and can get 1800 Kg. of dried leaves per acre
· Harvest only the leaves and do not mix stems (Eerkku) with leaves
· The market price for Moringa Flowers: Rs.3000/- /Kg.
· Selection irrigation system is important - If the water contains more of sodium and chlorine , the Sprinkling system is to be to be avoided , In such case drip irrigation is the BEST
· In a year, one can easily get Rs.3-5 Lakhs per acre
· Prefer solar dryer for drying the leaves .
· Effective Micro-organism usage is MOST IMPORTANT
· Intercrop is a must to improve the profitability
· Exportable stuff should be free from all sorts of contamination .
· Use 2% rock salt to wash the leaves and use Stainless Steel materials of 304/306 grade
· Such salt water processed leaves have to be finally washed with drinking water.
· Quality of packing is very important
· Promotion-Reach World Tamil Sangam’s to still popularise its application
· Canada, Govt. has invested Rs.420 Cr. to develop Moringa leaves
· The demand is constant increase in COLD countries
Approaches for effective Cultivation-Water management-Sunlight harvesting- Rain harvesting-Wind harvesting-Time harvesting
