It depends on who you are talking to. My suggestion would be tour as much dairy farms around your area big or small and talk to them about their best practices. You have lot of resources and videos online too. We did not hire any consultants to start ours and you always learn form your mistakes.
How many cattle did you start off with? Do you grow your own green fodder? I'm little concerned as I've never dealt with cattle or agriculture before. Since you have already been in this field, Could you please suggest any best practices? I've read couple of posts where they stated it's better to buy calves than cows. Not sure how true it is.
