Facts about osmanabadi goats

Dear vertical,
This breed is of osmanabad. And none of the seller is native of osmanabad like me.So they even dont know how the pure breed looks like. They supply local ordinary breed in the name of pure osmanabadi breed. In local ordinary breed u wont see any goat weigthing more than 45 kg.But yes pure line breeds weights more than that upto 60kg and some typical ones near 65kg.There is goat weighing photo at our site www.goatfarm.20m.com in which does weights 50kg.
The major supply of our goats are at andhrapradesh, karnataka, tamil nadu and kerala. Our goats are pre-booked 2 months before.
Ya we assure growth. alfalfa and dry matter are enough to achieve maximum growth in these breed.
U must know the fact even u dont buy from us.

integrated farming

Hi all,
I want to start a goat farm with a unit size of 100 along with a backyard poultry farm.
My question is 1. It will be good to have both farms in same place.(is it profitable)
2.Shall i start only with goats or mixed number of goats & sheep, which will be better.
3.Best breed for andhrapradesh, kurnool dist location.
4.Project report for both without any bank loan included if possible(as most of project reports includes bank loan amounts due to which profit amounts are not understandable..)
5.Details of Training facilility if available in A.P.

regards,
raj.

Goat farming

1.Ya u can have both farm at one place, but should have a long distance between them.
2.Start with goats only.U cant keep sheep with goats, coz their fodder and care takings are completely different.
Some of differences between goat and sheep farm are:
Goat farm is 10 times more profitable than sheep farm.
Sheep gives birth to 1 kid in a year whereas goat 4kids in a year.
Maturity period of sheep is of 390 days whereas goat matures in 300 days.
Goats are highly resistants to diseases as compare to sheep.
Goat meat has very high demand as compare to sheep meat.
Marketing of goats is very easy as compare to sheeps.
Goats requires less fodder as compare to sheeps.

The only plus point with sheeps is that, they produces wool 2-3 times in a year. But just considering the wool profit u cant go with sheeps, just think of above points regarding goats.
In the end the profit obtain by selling goats is much higher than that obtain by selling wool and sheeps.

3.No doubt, the best breed for andhrapradesh is of osmanabadi. This breed has a very high demand in maharashtra, karnatka, kerala, tamilnadu and andhrapradesh(hyd). Its meat has greater taste(palatability) than any other breed.
4.We have two project reports in one file, one with your own investment and other with bank loan.U can get it from our website www.goatfarm.20m.com
5.Inquire your districts animal husbandry hospital. You will surely get all details there and nearby training centre adress.

Hello Mr.shaikh,
Thnx for clearing my doubts.
U mentioned there should be some distance between the farms, but what if we allow the desi chicks mingle with the goats(as both are much disease resistant),
because i don't want to go for big shed ,for backyard poultry like for boilers and layers.
And what r the basic problems generally we may come across while going for goat farming.

regards,

goat farming and poultry farming

Dear gyatri_raj,
if you mingle chicks with goats, the main problem will be germs. The chicks faces(stool) hold germs for longer time and it spreads disease at a rapid rate in goats. The chicks manure wont spread the disease among chicks themself, coz their body becomes adaptable to that faces and germs.
Also there are more chances of spreading diseases from goat droplets.
You will keep The broiler chick for 45-60 days or layer chicks for 12-16 months, then u would brought new chicks,so there are lot of chances of spreading diseases due to these new chicks in goats, the best example is of bird flu even it affects humans.
U will not face any problems with goat farming as u may face lots of with poultry farming.Goat farming is always safe if goats are vaccinated from time to time.
There is a NABARD scheme for vaccination of goats,in which 50 goats are vaccinated against all major diseases for 1 year just for rs3000.
Plz for further queries post your reply in my 'goat farm solution' thread in questions and answers section.
