Hello,

I want to know about flower farming in open field.

I have an area of about 5 acre in ghaziabad, uttar pradesh.
Please tell me, which flower's farming could be done here.
What are the investments and what are the earnings from this occupation ?

u can cultiate tubber rose, rose , gerbera , lily marigold , gladiolous etc investmnt depends on the variety cltivated

The primary factors for flower cultivation:
• The farm must be near the wholesale and retail market.
• The farm must have clear sunshine.
• The farm must be located at well aerated place.
• There must be refrigerated storage facility.
• The flowers must reach the end customer easily within 6 hours.
• The farm labor must be well trained.
• The cultivation must be market oriented.
• Diversification of flower cultivation is essential.
• There must be diversification to generate regular income, seasonal demand flowers, essential oil extraction flowers, and export purpose flowers.
Flower crops like Tube Rose, Gladiolus. BOP, Aster, Marigold, Jasmine (family)Mogra, jui, jai,chameli,etc

Soil-pH 6-6.5Red Soil, Well drained
Climate–30-35 °C,50- 60 % RH
Water-As and when required

I totally agree with suggestions given above..One small reccomendation would be also to personally visit the nearby flower market and speak to the wholesalers/ retailers and find out the folllowing:

1. Which flowers have maximum demand and seasonalities, if any.
2. What is the average daily qty they are ready to take? this helps for you to be aware of the total no of plant you can order
3. Commission and other commercial aspects such as Average price per flower, delivery time, logistics etc
