Dear Sunanda,

Please take the Farm owners training before getting into this industry, so that you can know the negative points about the industry.

Further, what emu products you want to export?

Hi

Initially we would suggest visit a nearby emu farm for all practical information.

Originally Emu is a resident of Australia, a very sober bird, living on grains, cereals, pulses and grass, its immune system is so strong that it hardly suffers from any disease. It survives in any type of climate. Each and every part of emu’s body is commercially valuable. Hence in Maharashtra too, emu- farming is taking its roots. There are many reasons as to why we should expand emu farming. In the first place this is a very fast growing business in north America and now in India with a very high percentage of profit on investment. Emu is capable of surviving any type of climate and adversities. This is a non aggressive bird so it is easy to look after it. Even in the breeding period it does not attack man. The birds do not need special structures for their stay neither do they need large chunk of land. A small piece of land is ok. In one acre of land 100 to 150 birds can be easily accommodated. Emu farming is eco friendly, highly effective, excellent business. This can be complementary to conventional agriculture. Even retired man can look after a flock of many birds.

Emu lives in a natural environment hence it eats grains cereals, pulses seeds of fruits, leafy vegetables and grass. However to increase the egg-production foodstuff like crable-pallet, grower pallet, holding-pallet and layer-pallet is recommended.

Labour

The main work of a labourer in emu farm is to give the birds food & water and to collect their excreta. Hence the labour charges should be very less. A man can easily look after an emu farm with 100 birds in it.

Everything is OK for EMU Farm but the sell of chicks, meat
& other parts of body is very difficult. Every EMU Farm is ready to buy Eggs
only. Can suggets the market where it can be sell?

Dear Sadiq,

The fear of no market is the reason that one should take proper training from Kalpatru Emu Training and Research Institute, before entering into this industry.

You are very true that everyone is selling eggs only. Kalpatru is the only company in India, which start to finish company. You take the training and you will know where the market is.
