Does anybody have any experience or information on corporate tie-up for farm produce.

My friend and his circle of friends has plans for large farms (100 acres and above ) and wants to have Tie-Up with Corporates for buying their produce like vegetables, fruits, etc before putting in more money on developing the farm.

The produce can be anything like Medlia Dubia, Pencil Maram, Ecalyptus, Casurina or even any other thing.

Does anybody has any experience or information in this type of tie-ups and contract arrangements? Please respond.

You mentioned about corporate tie up for vegetables, fruits etc and then mention plants which has nothing to do with vegetables and fruits, like Melia Dubia (Mala Vembu/Mala Veppu-a tree that is to be harvested/cut down after 7-8 years-it grows fast only under high irrigated or forest conditions); Pencil Maram (an arid zone, African plant, of course drought tolerant, with potential for converting its toxic latex into bio diesel, and can be planted in barren, arid zones; contact with the toxic latex can lead to irritation and skin problems), Eucalyptus (a high water foraging tree, planting of it banned in forests by the Government of Kerala recently, as it caused many ecological and social problems in and around forests of Kerala and also partly a cause for the water shortage in Kerala with high rainfall) with industrial uses/oil extraction uses; then Casuarina. Casuarina equisetifolia leaf litter suppresses germination of other plants under it, using a biochemical means or allelopathy. This is one reason it can be such a damaging invasive species in places outside its native range. It also claims to grow fast, within 3-4 years and fetch Rs. 200/tree, provided there is enough water-the one good thing about it is that it is a good agent for fixing atmospheric nitrogen-so a few plants around will be good for the growth of other plants.

So think properly before venturing into such crops-we, humans, have already did a lot of damage to ourselves and mother earth and all around us due to our extreme greed supported by end of pipeline science and technology, pushed by corporate greed.
