I am setting up a new dairy project in Haryana and plan to start a cow dairy farm of atleast 100 animals. I want to understand that which cow breed is most commercially viable for a dairy project in Haryana under the extreme climate conditions of the state.

if u r setting up of dairy plant in haryana then in what area and with which type of infrastructure and how much u want to invest .the best breed suitable in north haryana is holstein frieson if u can provide the good infrastructure otherwise jersey will do.

Thanks for the response...i am told that the mortality rate of HF is quite high in Haryana as they are unable to cope with the local climatic condition. Also in peak summers the yield decreases significantly and the ability to reproduce also declines significantly. Grateful for an insight on the queries. I have 3 more queries

1. What is the average expected yield of HF in summers when the temperature rises to as much as 45 degrees
2. What is the average expected yield of Jersey cow
3. What are the ways to modulate the cow shed environment to ensure that the HF cow can comfortably survive the Haryana summers.

The cow breeds suitable for haryana are....HAriana, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, the exotic cattle breeds.
