Climbing wattle is an herbaceous vegetable , related to legumes , that grows throughout tropical Southeastern Asia .
It is a shrub or small tropical tree which grows up to 5 metres in height.
Climbing wattle is a vitamin-rich vegetable, containing high amounts of vitamin A, calcium and iron, as well as vitamins B and C.
The herb is also a good source of fiber and phosphorus.
Climbing wattle contains various beneficial nutrients, such as beta sitosterol, which helps lower cholesterol and promotes prostate health .
Culinary uses;
In Northeast India use climbing wattle as ingredient for indigenous cuisine like Kaang-hou (Fried Vegetables), Eromba and much more .
In Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Thailand, the feathery shoots of Senegalia pennata are used in soups, curries, omelettes and stir-fries. The edible shoots are picked up before they become tough and thorny.
In Thai cuisine it is also used in egg omlet , eaten raw with thai salads, such as Tam Mamuang , Kaeng khae curry etc.
Medicinal uses :
It is a sheet virya herb ( sheet virya or cool potency herb )
The leaves are stomachic, styptic for bleeding gum and antiseptic for scalding of urine.
