Hi all,
I have decided to start a dairy farm with 10 cows and 10 buffaloes. Recently I visited a farm regarding that and learnt many new things. But they did not prefer the buffaloes as their breeding possibilities by artificial insemination is very less. Now I'm confused whether to include the buffaloes or not. If i can include means, should I buy a bull too or provide natural breeding method from nearby farms or use artificial methods itself?
Kindly guide me regarding this. Thank you.

Hi,
You can have buffaloes as well, but if you are new to this business it is advicable to start with cows, gain some exp. & then expand with buffaloes. For artificial insemination you can contact nearby vetranary hospital or KVK.

buffaloes ?

Yes it is true. If U think about dairying, you must have the sufficient lands (with water facility), scope to install bio gas, and other livestock also, so that your milk realisation will be untouched and plays a vital role in your growth. You must start the daily farm as integrated one with ZERO BASE. Feed is an important criteria and if you buy and feed, you will not get the expected return. Call me for further information if you have the real interest and potential.

If you are going to get better price for high fat milk, then go for buffaloes. In karnataka, all milk supplied to dairy will be sold for same rate, so quantity is more important than quality.

Think before you leap.
