Animal hostel project a social business

 A revolutionary rural empowerment concept envisioned by Gujarat’s
visionary Chief Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is the Animal Hostel.
 Animal Hostel is a large-scale community facility for milch animals of a
village where these animals are reared scientifically, and managed on a cooperative
basis. The facilities in the hostel includes: Scientific cattle sheds, inhouse
fodder production & storage, electricity generation through bio-gas
plants, vermi-compost production, milk collection room, in-house veterinary
& breeding services, water harvesting system.
 First of its kind in the entire country,an animal hostel has been commissioned
at Aakodara Village, near Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha District and
inaugurated on 06.05.2011.
 Benefits of project :
 Nirmal Gam- removal of dung heaps
 Increase in milk yield by 15 % .
 Reduction in working hours of women – saving of 800 person days
per month,-Rs. 3.75 Lakhs per month
 Prevention of about 3.2 tones of methane emission into atmosphere
due to gobar gas
 Generation of 225 units of electricity per day, this would prevent
emission of 105 tonnes of green house gases
