Hi all..I want to seek some guidance about some trees for the purpose of wood..
How can ppl draw comparison between gmelina arborea vs moghany vs teak vs paulownia, as far as rates are concerned international market ?? which among these trees is most suitable to be planted on water channels passing from agriculture lands?
Look forward to hear from ppl who want to pass on and share their knowledge..

I will limit my question and narrow it down further...could some one please comment and differentiate between these two paulownia and gmelina..
which is better from wood point of view and what are rates of these two woods in our region/ international market..

Planting Methods:
Teak can be planted at 2m x 2m, 2.5m x 3 m or 3m x 3m escapement. It can also be raised along with agricultural crops at a spacing of 4m x 4m or 5m x 5m.
• Plough lands thoroughly and level it of. Mark the areas for pit digging by alignment and staking.
• Dig pits of 45 x 45 x 45 cm sizes. Refill the soil after seasoning and mixing with Farm Yard Manure and insecticides. On poor gravely sites, replace the pit soil by good soil.
• Use pre sprouted stumps or poly pots for planting.
• Firm up the soil after planting and apply irrigation wherever necessary.
• Apply 100 g of compost fertilizer in pit at the time of planting and thereafter in split doses or as per the fertility status of soil.
• Carry out weeding operations regularly. Weeding may be carried out @ 3 operations in the first year, 2 operations in second year and one operation in the third year.
• Carry out soil working periodically for better growth of plants. One working in the Ist year and two workings in 2nd and 3rd year may be adequate.
• De-budding in the initial years may be done to improve the quality of timber.
Irrigation:
Study has revealed that, irrigation during stress period boosts the growth of the plants. Irrigation should be followed by weeding (3,2,1) and adequate soil working. Two doses of fertilizer (in the month of August & September) @ 50 gm per plant of NPK (15:15:15) may be provided every year up to three years. By increasing the inputs of irrigation and frequent thinning, it is possible to increase the rate of diameter growth.

2), We get approximately 10 to 12 cubic feet wood from one teak tree after 9th year .TODAY the average value of teak tree is Rs, 2500/-in local market.

thank you for the reply..very informative indeed. This shall help not just me but many others who will get a chance to read about teak..cheers..
However, I am still very inquisitive about comparison of wood , gmelina and paulownia..both these trees are different than teak in sense that they are fast growing and I believe their wood is superior than sufeda( eucalptus).
But How these woods compare with each other and what are their values in terms of returns in international market is not known? Will some one please help me with that

What is the protocol if I want to import plants of mahogany to Pakistan..
Fastest channel could be by road through touching border open for trade I guess..
