iam not a scientist nor a great math......., like some of my friends here who are annoyed by my sentences here .. iam a farmer and iam crazy for planting trees specially sandalwood.......some people study a lot in biology but never plant one tree in their life time... i have planted trees and that to closer than than even any one would dream to... even in their wildest imagination. in the next three years i will come out within a result which will astonish the think tanks of biology....but with all due respect for my friends because knowledge is very very respectable for me.... I have left the places blank which may be debatable...any body can put in any figures which they think can be down to earth and be satisfied.............but remember one thing nature can never be studied with books in ur hand or in labs....every time you condition it you will be surprised with a totally different outcome.....at the end i would like to be a believer and lose( if i ever) than a nonbeliever.....
i am studying sandal since last 9 yrs and i have planted many sandalwood plants, i have with me sandal wood saplings and seeds in very good health ready to plant, all the saplings come in a 9inch plastic bag with a host, i can gurantee u the average growth of this plant will be 15 feet in 3years, you will get the heartwood fragarence in 7 years ready to cut, 1kg sandalwood costs rs5000/-, a tree of 15 feet will give you average ..kg rs........./-,for 1tree, you can plant ... trees in an area of .......sq ft. , the closer you plant the faster it will grow with very less branching.... trees will give you ....on paper but in worst case scenario even if you get a
5% return practically you get ...... in just 7 years. sandal does not need any special care, it will give you good smeel if u give it less water.

500 plants in 1000sqft is very crazy spacing.
Sandal is parasite plant it need host plants around it.
Please don't misguide with unrealistic numbers.
Sandal cultivation is still one of the best in silviculture with drawback of
high security requirement.

Pray do not make public believe your misleading messages.You mean to say in 1000 sq ft you will grow 500 sandalwood saplings that means inter sapling distance will be approximately one and half feet .Do you mean such grown saplings will gain thickness of more than few inches.will you buy them if i grow 10000 saplings??
No you will not, and there lies the difference between facts and hallucinations of your's.

You have put very good amount of efforts to study closely the plant growth, behavior and essential oil biosynthesis in sandal wood tree. I have also been observing the growth and plant behavior of tree since last 27 years. Saplings planted in 1982 are ready to be harvested and processed for oil production.
Definitely neither you are a plant scientist nor have basic knowledge of Biology and Math. You need help of a biologist to interpret your observation and put in shape. I will feel each and every member of this forum is experience and qualified and very well understands what we intend to. And this type of exaggeration and unrealistic information leaves one no where.
Two of the knowledgeable members, rcdixit and Gowda has questioned your spacing concept. Are they wrong ? How sandal wood plants can be accommodated at 1.41x1.41 feet distance. From 7crores just only 5%. Plant growth is better at this spacing, needs in-depth knowledge of plant and its behavior to explain.

Any way if you continue your observations we all having interest in sandal wood will definitely be benefitted a lot.
If you have freshly collected seed s, pl send ur rates for 10kg seed.

Yes ., I do belive in close planting of sandal ., a spacing of 6*4 feet will give you some 1750 effective Population / Acre . Sound mangement - Agronomy technique only will increase the Heartwood yield .But it is not good calculation that .,at 5 % crop we can get 60 Lakhs .,unless the heartwood yield is more than 50 % ,. this crop is a Poor crop in scientific terms .

Ok ., Now we need some 25 kg of sandal wood seeds . let me know the price at which you can supply .Please come with all details about the germination % of the seeds available with you at persent.
