Dear Mr. Vikram,

Where you are proposing this farm?
Its better to go for local breeds in the initial stage. For example if you are located in any of the states... Maharastra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka, prefer Osmanabadi breed. Like that, you can opt only local breed.

There are two models in goat farming. Fattening and Breeding models.

Goats requires elevated housing.

Before purchasing the goats be prepare well for the fodder.

One adult goat requires a housing space of 12 - 14 sq feet

If you are a resident farmer, and you are supervising the herd you can go for 30 - 50 animals. For every six months you can increase them.

For each and every animal you have to invest Rs.8-10 thousand.

For fodder grasses, for every 50 goats you require one acre irrigated land.
