Hi,

I came across an article on Black turmeric on a website recently & was quite fascinated about the rare herb.
I have a garden in my house which is around 2000 sq ft. in area. I'm planning to plant black turmeric in my garden. Please provide more information in this regard as to how to find the blooms or tuber for planting it & are there any commercial benefits that I can gain from this herb.
Also I wanted to check if it is legal to grow this herb as it is an endangered herb, if I am not wrong.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Amit.

This plant belongs to genus Curcuma. This plant is very similar to the turmeric plant.
Its cultivation method is like general turmeric.
Sprouted rhizomes are used as the planting materials.
Generally it grows well in all kinds of soils and climate.
It is generally cultivated in June - July and harvested in January - February.

Some people also grow this plant in their gardens and pots for passion.

Hai,
It will grow in almost all places where you can grow normal curcuma Longa ( Haldi).
Very like normal turmeric it will be dormant for 6 months or so.Before that you can't sprought them, that's
You can't wake them up from the sleep.
When the right time comes they could me up on there on ( when monsoon comes).Any attempt you make will fail, this
My experience with it.
I personally don't see much of demand for black turmeric ( so what I feel is that,if you are looking for a commercial
Plantation it can't be a commercial success, it's my experience, but some body will have a different.
People are telling that it has got some religious/ spiritual benifits, but personally don't see that also, offcoure it depents
On the individual belief system.
