Some conflicting information on growing capsicum

Dear Mr. Seemantinipathare,

You are saying that you got a yeild of 9 MT in a poly house / green house, then you are claiming that A shade net will provide better yield compared to a green house? This is entirely conflicting to what I have heard and read everywhere that a Poly house provides much better yields compared to shade nets. Can you say how much yield will a shade net provide compared to a poly house? Will it provide 25 MT of yield in Half acre? Please explain. Things are pretty confusing.

Thankyou for sharing your experience. I too wanted to start a Capsicum farming, Just wanted your suggestions, on some of my queries. I wanted to grow capsicum under shadenet, but just wanted to know, if there is not going to be a problem during rainy season, due to excess of water.

that is all rubbish, your tonnage will not cross 25-30tonnes and average prize will not go over 22. If the figures were to be believed , the consultants would be millionaires by now and farmer suicides history. Do visit my honest farmers web site when you get a chance,

red and yellow capsicum in floriculture park pune, in a polyhouse. may be I went terribly wrong but there was a crazy thrips, white fly attack also any amount of labor is inadequate to supprot the crop in time and nearly every spray was followed by close to 100 kg wastage. I was a june plantation and the only sellable mirchi arrived between october and december. The rates dropped in Jan and the disease hit in feb !

no none what so ever , raised beds can take care of drainage. I would be extra care ful about support as a heavy shower and a tree laden with fruit can mean disaster if it topples

Average plantation of 16000 plants per acre
Average 96 tons per acre and can go up to 160 tons if you use quality seeds and nutrients.
Consider Average price of Rs. 40 per kg which should give you 38.4 to 64 lakh in revenue
Soil less system will ensure no loss of plants due to soil born diseases.
Production time frame of nearly 12 months.
Clean growing conditions will ensure less exposure to air born diseases and better control if infection does take place.
Most important factor is re plantation. Within 1 week you can start with new plants (6 weeks old) growing in the greenhouse, so you make the best use of your land. It is never sitting ideal.
Labor efficiency is exceptional since your labor is not involved in weed removal or watering etc.
Water and fertilizer efficiency will ensure lower costs.

If you are interested in seeing our project for color capsicum then you should visit us during Nov- December at Talegaon, near Pune. We are foremost the growers and then consultants.
