Harvesting the crop at 180 and 160 DAP records significantly higher B: C ratio (3.17 and 3.07, respectively), and gross (Rs.76,188 and 73,438/ha, respectively)and net returns (Rs. 52,279 and 49,609/ha, respectively).

Hi Ram,

The same thing has happened to Sugarcane farmers as well in TN. You are creating a situation wherein you are dependent on a single customer in this case a company and that too providing him your goods on credit.

If you want to avoid this in future, you should not go for contract farming and also choose the end products in such a way that it is easily saleable in the market. If you do not do this, the chances of exploitation will be more as more and more people move towards contract farming.

Hi
Now we got payment in full.. thank god.. we entred in to contract farming w only after careful consideration of all aspects and this company is doing th cultivation for the last 10 yrs or so with good track record.. he took one month for payment this time... the problem with the company is they are not telling the actual problem.. instead they say next week.. next week.. some excuse.. givng room for suspicion. now it is ok... thank you all
