I am first time entreuprenuer in farm and agri field. I recently bought 4 acres of land in Teertham near Bagalur, TN, with very good water source. There are 100 coconut trees (15 year old) and fruit bearing 200 mango plants, but I want to remove them and plant jasmine and kanakambram plants with a plan to sell the product in KR Market, Bangalore. Is this a good idea or bad. Please advise. Totally different ideas will be very welcome. I want good yield with minimum dependence on labour and other factors. Please give me good advice. TNQ.

Dear sir,

Greetings from SAFS!!

i read your post keenly you mentioned already 4 acres are having cocunut, mango tree. so why can you replace all those things you have re build those trees by providing fertigation watering it will give you a better yield at low input cost . my humble request dont cut those trees it will harm to the environment.

better idea is you can intercropp like vegetables., flowers by using sprinkler system it will provide water for both cocunut and your inter crop also....

Hi dayalan,

You can do jasmine and kanakambaram in the open places available between the coconut and mango trees. Its better to keep the trees as it is. As the other person mentioned, both the flowers need more people for plucking and hence you have to keep this in mind.

Alternatively, you can go for goat farming and country chicken farming which will provide good money without much work and also the goats and chickens keep the farm clean.

Hi

First I would say not to remove existing Mango plants ..that can give you good returns once the Yield Starts.. You can start cultivating Jasmine and Kankambaram in between these plants only using Drip irrigation method... Today most of the farms are doing Multi Crop business... also take suggestion from Floriculture Dept. for best results
