Hi Maharastra farmer friend ,

As per your version average yield is 50-55 Mt/ acre

Gross income - 50 MT * Rs.2300 = Rs.1,15,000

Preparatory cultivation per acre = Rs. 05000.00

Seed cane 4MT/acre = Rs.09200.00

Labour for planting = Rs.02000.00

Farmyard manure @ 5 MT /acre = Rs.06000.00

Chemical fertilizers&application cost = Rs.09000.00

Weedicide and application cost = Rs.01200.00

Manual weeding = Rs.01500.00

Earthing up ( partial & high ) = Rs.04000.00

Plant protection chemicals&

application cost = Rs.02000.00

Detrashing & propping = Rs.02000.00

irrigation labor cost = Rs.02000.00

Harvesting labor Rs.250/Mt = Rs.12500.00

Transport hire charge ( subsid
-ised transport charge) = Rs.02000.00

Interest on crop loan = Rs.03500.00

Miscellaneous cost = Rs.05000.00

Total cultivation cost = Rs.66900.00

Net income Rs.1,15,000-Rs.66900) = Rs.48100.00

1/4 of net income as lease amount = Rs.12025

Or lease amount per acre may be rounded to Rs.12,000

Dear Rahul,

Factory do not send their cane cutters on time; as such your cane reduces sugar contains and receives lesser rate. Moreover you cannot predict your yields; what you quoted is average.

Mr. T Ramu is right. Change your crop; if you are near to Pune city grow leafy vegetables, if you are far grow fruit vegetables; however this is labor intensive but affordable. Faster turn over.

Most important is you should be PRESENT and alert all the time ON THE FARM for 25 hours out of 24 hours of the day. If you cannot; withdraw.

Dear friend,
the yield will depend on the soil fertility and water quality and availability especially in summer months.
Averege yield per acre seems to be high please check with local experienced farmers.
For Harvest of sugarcane do you have to depend on manpower or do you have harvesters in your area.
Timely harvest of sugarcane has a major impact for the ratoon crop.
Carefully look at all the expenses in your area and work out you will be the best Judge; take your worksheet to three to four experienced farmers in your area so that they can give you a better suggestion.

Best otion discuss with local farmers

Usually the lease amount will be subjected to geographical location.

Best option is to discuss with neighbor farmers to know the present lease worthiness of the land.

Then you compare with the excellent calculationprovided by T. Ramu.
