Drip irrigation system for betelvine

Dear Experts We have 1 acre of betel vine (approximattly 500 nos +500 betelnut plants, as on we are feeding the plant with conventional way of water with bore well, which is consuming more labor and waste of water and power, please let me know suitable application of micro irrigation system, my bore well yields 800 lmp of water, also the plantation is not in the row, its scatters and land location is 40 Km away from Bangalore, we had crucial water and power scarcity, kinldy help us in conserving the water.

Hello Sir,

Please let me know the spacing?? As per your message i understand that you dont have a regular spacing, if this is right then drip irrigation will be difficult to install.

Yes drip irrigation is the solution but it seems ur plants are scattered so this will be the problem. actually to minimize the betelvine wilt, drip irrigation system should be implemented.
Since betelvine requires high soil moisture, frequent light irrigation is necessary depending upon the season. Irrigation should be need-based and proper drainage is essential during rainy season.

Where betel vine is cultivated as mixed crop drainage and irrigation drip channels are made between every two, three or four rows of arecanut depending of soil type.

Dear Madam

spacing of betelvine is 3X3 the only concern is they are not in straight, in this case can we go for micro sprinkler or some thing New technology???

Drip irrigation is essential to betalwine. It is common in Maharastra. Specially in drought prune area like Solapur it is successful. It saves water & labor cost, increases yield &quality also. You may consult our betalwine research center at post
