I have about 5 acres of land and 10 lakhs to invest. Which would be most profitable to do, Poultry or Dairy or Goat Farming. Which one is high maintenance.

I can use the land to grow green fodder. Please offer your opinion and suggestions.

Hi,

I suggest set up a dairy farm in a small scale which helps you see money on a daily basis from day 1.

Also keep poultry and goat farming as secondary units so that they help you get money in regular cycles as per your planning

Thanks for the replies. I am leaning towards goat farming as it is less capital intensive to start.
Does anyone have recent project report on goat farming. There are few on the internet which are dated.

Hi bow2,

1 Acre is required for growing & maintaining 20-25 Goats. Each Goat will cost you anywhere between 3000-6000 (rate depends on kgs)
1 Acre is required for growing & maintaining 3-5 Cows. Each Cow will cost anywhere between 25000-60000 (local cow or hf or jersey cow)
Poultry requires less space and each chicken(I do not know what is your preference broiler or desi will cost you anywhere between 25 Rs(one day chick) to 300 Rs).

Now that you have some idea, you can think which is best for you.

My suggestion would be to have multiple options rather than go for single option as diversification will help you in risk management.
