You can go in for sugarcane cultivation. But in order to maximize your profits you could also consider making your own jaggery in iron vats in the traditional manner. Good jaggery with good colour will always have a ready market and fetch you a good price. I buy organic jaggery at Rs. 40 per kg. The producer In Maharashtra tells me that he is making a profit by selling at this price.
