Hi. I am completely new to farming, but my family has some land here in central America. I've been reading about biodiesel for years, and energy is something I'd like to be involved in. Jatropha is a hot topic, but I'm wondering if it would be better to start with oil palm, since it also has a market as a food product? I know that there are a lot of other people doing it. How can I estimate the cost/profitability before investing?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I will be working at a much smaller scale. I was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the profitability of Jatropha.

Any better ideas?

Water retention method part of complete project?

My ref: IENG 373111, MIET 505330 registration with IET in GB, jatropha shrub.

Dear Sir,

At present can you tell me please if you use a shredder for making mulch from the twigs and prunings from the branches of the (jatropha) shrub?
What is the make and design of the shredder that you know (if any)?

I noted that the mulch is used for water retention when spread around the base of the shrub and subsequently it turns into compost to enrich the soil of the plant roots.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you, kind regards,

Our project is still in the planning stage. I don't have any experience with it, and it seems difficult to find good information.

Dear Sir,

I am Sheetal Narkar from Mumbai. I am a biotechnologist and currently pursuing MBA Biotech. I have completed my bachelors & masters in Biotechnology. I have done a thorough research on Jatropha Plantation and Biodiesel extraction.

I am very much interested in the starting up with Jatropha plantation Business in maharashtra , as it is the need for the hour..... People are not aware about it , but Jatropha Plantation business is a real profitable one and it has the capacity to transform barren land into profit-making farms. I would like to hear from you more.
