Dr. Vinod Singh is a Scientist at Central Silk Board in Jammu. He says sericulture is very good occupation for small and marginal farmers specially from hilly areas. It is total one month crop with low cost and high benefit and highly subsidized by government. Cost of 1kg cocoon is about Rs.1,000/-. Any small farmers can produce 20 to 30kg cocoon in one month.
