India has the unique distinction of being the only country producing all the four known commercial silks, namely Mulberry, Tasar (tropical and temperate), Eri & Muga with its golden yellow sheen is unique and produced only in India. India has enormous potential to accommodate different types of seri-based enterprises as it has diverse, yet conducive soil and climatic characteristics. These advantages can be brought into practice by creating self-employment opportunities for the rural youths to uplift their socio-economic condition.
