Dr. Bhoopendra Singh says evidence suggests that the agricultural pesticide exposures may be risk factors for a variety of acute and chronic diseases, including several cancers. Occupational end users of pesticides include workers who are involved in the application of pesticides or who re-enter in the treated areas shortly after pesticide application. Such workers are mostly agricultural workers. It is observed that majority of agricultural workers are not aware about the application of personal protective equipment, preventive measures and health hazardous effects. Dr. Bhoopendra Singh has conducted a research to find out the status on the matter mentioned above and feel that it is essential to discuss this topic with farmers to make them aware about the application of PPE and safety issues related to pesticides exposers.
