Dr. A. Amarender Reddy says Government of India has been promoting value addition in agricultural produce and also food processing in a big way since last few decades. There is a growing demand for processed food and ready-to-cook food as average incomes of the households are increasing and the budding middle class is preferring the processed food. The lecture focused on the growing demand for the value addition and processed food in both domestic and international markets and how the existing schemes of both Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare as well as the Ministry of Food Processing Industries are helping the development of the food processing sector.
