Hi,

We have tried cultivating stevia crops in Aligarh ,Uttar Pradesh (small area of 1 bigha approx for PILOT purpose) but  problem here is that tempreature varies in extreme ranges 1-49 degree so plants dies out in January(i am not sure if thats is the sole reason ).
Every Possible care was taken like sprinker irrigation, Net system, frequent weeding , soil type also favourable for plantation (as par specialist ) but still...
Can anyone point out possible reason for failure

Thanks

Hi
as you suggest temperature may be a reason , were you sure no pests or diseases attacked the plants??

Thanks for your affords for the stevia plantation. There is not problem in the stevia plantation in Aligarh. People are taking crops there. The adverse temperature condition can be avoided by the agricultural practices. Please send the picture of the farm to me i will go through it and find the exact reason. Please also send some close poses of the dead plant roots. We will try to find the exact reason.

The stevia plant cannot withstand the cold. You need to grow in a greenhouse and protect the plant from low temperatures.
