A super organic farming practised at melkondaiyar village in Thiruvallur district is giving huge farm income between Rs.3 lac to 5.63 lac per acre per year . The super organic farming is also the synonym of Natural farming in certain respect that the weeded plants are incorporated in the land itself , thus recycling the organic matter back into the soil.
FEATURE OF SUPER ORGANIC FARMING PRACTICED ON VEDIC CONCEPT AS FOLLOWS
1. Purely organic based cultivation . No synthetic inputs either fertilizers or weedicide or plan protection chemicals are used here.
2.I leave land fallow for three months atleast after every harvest of previous crops to allow the land to recoup its natural fertility
3.I use polythene mulching sheet to arrest weeds growth and conserve soil moisture- this reduce demand for farm labor
4.I installed drip irrigation system to increase water use efficiency and irrigate more area with limited water
5.I go for multiple cropping like Banana as main crop ,and inter crops like papaya( red lady), water melon in between Banana and Papaya, 25 days before the harvest of water melon , I plant high yielding brinjal ( green long hybrid brinjal ) which establish well after the harvest of watermelon . Agathi as border crop and greens and chillies in between the banana rows ..
6. The uprooted watermelon plants and trashes of banana are left in the land itself as mulch where ever possible ..I uses 12 types of beneficial fungi which decompose these organic waste and enrich soil organic matter which is most important for enhanced soil fertility and soil health.
7.I uses vermicompost , bio feritilizers , beneficial soil fungi and VAM fungi in soil as organic mannure
8.For foliar spray I uses panchakavya , Amrutha solution , cow urine and sea weed extract to maintain crop growth at maximum efficiency
9.I use humic acid and panchakavya @ 3 % THROUGH DRIP IRRIGATION
10. Once in three years I uses vermi compost made of pressmud which is a rich source of secondary and micro nutrients which is must and essential for higher yield and profuse flowering
11. To scare insect pest I make Natural and organic insect repellent which keep the crop green and healthy . Plants stay clean without pest and disease infestations.
12.I plough land once in three years . This leaves soil not disturbed frequently and help build soil borne micro organisms and earth worms which makes soil a living body on earth
13. The vedic farming involves use of cow based inputs, kitchen based ashes , multicropping in a location which prevent pest insect multiplication . and add variety of nutrients upon decomposition after ending its life.
14.The taste of fruits ( watermelon , papaya) is most delicious with aroma and flavour inducing and enhancing appetite for consuming more and more . The vegetables cooked and eaten are much more tasty and facilitate easy and early digestion even in age old parents and seniors in home..
