Sarpgandha cultivation

Sow nursery in the month of April. When the seedlings are 60-90 days old, transfer them in seed bed (main field) at 60x30cm spacing after rains.Take care of weeds. Apply compost/vermicompost/FYM in good amount in addition to 50kg N,80kg P2O5 and 80 kg K2O/ha. You can take some intercrop (vegetable) mainly during rainy and summer.Even pigeon pea can be planted during rainy season in rows 3m apart. Plants will remain in field atleast for 24 months. These are dug in Dec.-Feb. for root purpose.300-400kg dried roots one can get. With very good maintenance one can get a yield of 600-700kg/acre.
