One reason: it has not ripened properly. But 9 months is normal ripening period. May be some problem of the land/soil. Which variety seed you have used? Where is your farm/location-village, tehsil, district, state? Please mail us with a photograph of the white colour rhizome (greenlandfns@gmail.com).
You may test the soil and water and see what deficiency is there.
