Land buying-challenges-water availability

As many of the members on this forum would agree, the availability of Water is one of the most important factors to consider before venturing into any kid of Agricultural activity. It is one of the biggest challenges that haunt us, before purchasing a land. (of course, there are other factors like legal issues, title, documents etc, which we can discuss separately)

I'm planning to buy land in Tamil Nadu - in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri or Vellore Districts that are mostly semi-arid. My idea is to start a Goat Farm.

I'd appreciate some advise on various methods to ascertain Water Availability in the land, before purchasing the land.

• How the water testing is done
• Time required to provide the reports
• Costs involved
