Hello all,
For last few years I am living in China.Seen quiet a bit of farms and ponds in China. Just last month bought around 25acres of farm land in Tiruvaroor Dist, adjacent to river and with 3 bore wells. I am planing to dig out ponds in 2ha of land for aquaculture, and dedicate 5 acers of land to grow fodders, and start a dairy farm with 20 cows. For last 6months I am reading a lot about dairy farming and aquaculture in India. I am a Mech Engg by profession, and my job is setting up factories, and trainig people in manufacturing.
My question here is:
1) In dairy farming why in India, we are not able to produce as much milk as Israelies per cow?
Their national average per cow is 11,281Kg as of 2006, and they are improving. Climate in israel is worst than of India.
2) In fresh water inland aqua culture why we are not able to produce as much fish as Chinese?
Their average is around 11MT/ha.
3) I would appriciate, if any one could guide me or provide me with a link for farm gate price for milk, fish, vegitable etc in Tamilnadu.
Thanks in advance to everyone who is going to contribute here to enlighten me.

Hi

You have interesting questions, Israelian cow breeds are different and the food that are fed to them are different. Ifv you want to experiment try exporting a few cows from there and little technical know how from Israelis and see what is the milk yield it gives in India. It will be a good research. Coming to fishes in CHina, You are in CHina so you should be knowing their practices well and try adopting the same here.

Hello,
Since you are living in China for last few years, it would be ideal that you tie up with a chinese company for implementing high tech farming and other agro based industries.I would be keen for such a JV with you.

Hello Arun,
I havent seen much of High tech farm in China. Most of the rural areas I traveled, they are kind of same like India. Though most of the equipments are made in China, still most of the farmers can not afford it.In fact most of the farmers go to city to survive by doing odd jobs like labour.
Another thing, Chinese wont do joint venture in small scale. They like big numbers and in huge scale. But all the equipment required to setup a high tech farm can be bought for a cheap price. What I am trying to say is one can do business with them like a trader or as aggro equipment suplier. If you like to trade let me know. I might able to hook you up with reliable people, who can speak english too.

Hello Ashwini,
Sure I would love to try what you said, importing livestock from Israel.

Before I do that, I want to start something small, and establish myself

financialy to a reasonable level. Fish farming, sure I am going to speak

with my Chinese friends. So far I have visited and seen their ponds, but

never asked them how they do it. Hope they will tell me, and their

practiese is acceptable in India too.
Thanks Ashwini
