Information on cross breeding

Hello

I am in process of setting up goat farm. But the problem is I am unable to get pure breed Boer does. But some farms are offering pure Boer bucks at very high price. If suppose I buy bore buck and cross bread with local breed. Then I will have cross bred with less productive goats in team of weight etc. I had read in one article that it will take two-three generations of crossbreeding for the full potential of the Boer breeds to be transferred to Indian goats. Is this possible?

Theorically 7th backcross will be 99% similar to boer

It is possible
In Animal breeding and genetics the principle is as follows

Female X Male donar (Boer)
1st back cross= 50% of Boer character : Known as Back cross 1 (BC1)
BC1 X Boer
2nd back cross (BC2) = 75% of Boer trait
BC2 X Boer
BC3 = 87.5% of Boer X Boer
BC4 =93.75
BC5=96.875
BC6=98.43
BC7=99.21% of Boer trait
Note: Pls Carefull observe the body weight and boer traits while selecting female back cross.

AGRI1972 has given good program; it is not difficult but highly technical. Need lot of time, patience and money. Study thoroughly; not only technical aspects also your money flow before you leap. Best luck

About cost and technical planing I have below IDEA.

I hope if we have proper planning then we can overcome the cost involved. Suppose if I go for importing frozen embryos for my project. It’s a very hectic task and there are 50-50 chances of survival of new born kids.

So here is my plan on goat farming buy one pure bloodline Boer buck and 8 -10 local breed which are ready for mating (which will be available for reasonable price).then first generation goats are ready, then cross with the Boer buck I am having and follow the same for up to 6 or 7th generation. I know it will take some time.

But during all this process I will be having cross breeds of first generation 50%, second generation 75%, Third generation 87%, and fourth gen 93% and so on. By Keeping pure breed goats rest can be sold for meat purpose.

Cost managing:

Here farms are offering 1500-2500 Rs/live weight for pure bloodline Boer buck and 3000rs for does.

Buck =50*2000 =1, 00,000/ or ~=1870 US dollar.
Does =50*3000=1, 50,000/ or ~=2800 US dollar. If I buy local breed then I should get 8 goats for around 60, 000-65, 0000 Rs. This is one third price of pure doe. Also I will be getting 8-12 kids form local breed. But will get 1-2 kids form Boer doe etc.
