importing seeds

Dear Friends,
I need to import the seeds of some native berries from South America and grow them in India. These are natural non GM seeds for medicinal preparation. The plans are non invasive slow growing ones. Are there any legal/customs issues in doing this? Do I need any special permits for this? It would be a great help if anyone can share their thoughts on this.

Please contact the quarantine department, any planting material that is exported or imported needs a quarantine check.
